OUR VALUES

Our Mission

At Chapter Six, we use jewelry as a medium to channel creativity into activism, inviting our customers to explore their relationship with beauty, sustainability and spirituality.

Our principles guide us every step of the way, and we hope they, will awaken you into action, too. Click on each of our values to learn more.

HOW WE DEFINE SUSTAINABILITY

At Chapter Six, we define sustainability as making informed decisions as a company. This means that every step of the way we are asking ourselves if our choices have negative or positive impacts on the health of our planet, its ecosystems, and ourselves. At the end of the day we want our company to give back to a balanced world.

Gold

WE USE 100% RECYCLED GOLD

Currently, we are using 100% recycled gold from our manufacturers in Istanbul. There are conflicting opinions about what is the most ecologically and ethically responsible way to mine gold, so we are proud of this decision, but will continue to seek new information as we grow as a company.

DIAMONDS & GEMSTONES

WE USE CVD DIAMONDS AND LAB MADE GEMSTONES

CVD diamonds are lab cultivated, which gives them specific advantages over Earth mined diamonds. Here are the three main reasons we choose to use them at Chapter Six:

-Lighter environmental impact compared to mining

-Less energy intensive

-No humans were hurt in the process

We are also using lab grown gemstones to avoid participation in new mining. In the future, we hope to offer a selection of vintage options as well.

OUR Packaging

WE USE RECYCLED GOLD MULBERRY PAPER BOXES

We eliminated unnecessary components while maintaining our packaging’s luxury. Once received, we ask you to be creative and find ways to reuse these items.

Our box is made from mulberry bark. Mulberry bark regrows at an extremely fast rate, so the process of extracting it does not harm or kill the tree. Our pouch is made from overstock fabric that would have otherwise been discarded.

We decided not to include a ‘thank you for purchase’ note, in order to save paper waste, and instead have created a direct to inbox email receipt.

Donating is at the heart of who we are. Our company serves as a channel to raise capital for causes we care about.

OUR COLLECTION

We donate 10% annual revenue to Re:Wild

10% of anual revenue goes toward a Re:Wild aiding causes we believe in. Together, we can make a difference. We will use our photoshotos and social media as visual channels for helping our customers understand ecological concepts.

Carbon footprint

We also plan to carbon offset our supply chain, with the hopes of becoming certified as a carbon neutral company after one year.

IN OUR GROWTH

We have big ideals, but we are not perfect. Fighting for change means being receptive about areas in which we need to improve. We want to share our entire journey with you in our quest to be a responsible company in 2020. This means being open about areas that need improving and asking for help when needed. This also means we encourage constructive feedback and suggestions from our customers!

IN OUR SUPPLY CHAIN

If you need help finding ethical sourcing, email us for the names of all of our suppliers and artisans. This is what we mean by radical transparency. It’s time for companies to stop hiding and hoarding information that can help others in the same industries. We encourage you to ask questions and would like to be partners in ensuring transparency and kindness.

JOURNAL

We are using our online journal as a way to provide valuable insight and information to our consumers. Through interviews, lengthy articles, and photojournalism, we hope to explore the crossroads of the modern jewelry industry and sustainability.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Social media is a double edged sword, and while we love to post a beautiful image we will also be creating informative campaigns meant to share facts and information that inspire you to stop scrolling through your feed, even just for a moment.

EVENTS

Community drives us. Through events held and sponsored by us, we aspire to bring together a conscious tribe committed to making the world a better place. We can’t do this alone.
