Valentine's Day Gift Guide

February 6, 2021

As most of our audience is currently based in Southern California, we feature some of our favorite small businesses to support as well as activities that focus on avoiding waste (i.g., just getting takeout) and spending quality time with the people we love.

Here is why we chose each item featured in our gift guide:

Girls Night In:

What’s better than a night with your girls, drinking an herbal elixir in a beautiful mug, while cooking up a healthy organic meal, and discussing collective fears and joys over dinner? We really can’t think of anything better.

Here are some ideas on how to make that night a reality….

Anima Mundi herbals: EUPHORIA : Spirit + Love Elixir:

Nurture your heart with an herbal tonic; not every night requires alcohol… We love adding a few drops of Euphoria to a mug of cacao. It tastes good and boosts your mood.

Rex Design Mug:

Once you’ve made your drink of choice, sip it in a beautiful mug. This one is made by Rex Design based out of Costa Mesa. Mugs are great gifts that are appreciated every day.

My Girl Wellness: It’s Personal:

We love anything that helps us look within ourselves and grow. Sometimes cards with prompts help us to open up and talk about what’s really on our minds, beyond our typical surface level conversation. When we share and empathize, we rise together as a collective.

The Jewels:

Keep it simple with our butterfly necklace and a dainty statement ring.

All the babies:

Feel cozy but cute in this set made from organic cotton and ethically manufactured in LA from All the Babies. You can dance around in it plus sleep in it. Win.

Green Room Botanicals:

Did you know most flowers that you buy have been shipped halfway around the world, and die after just a few days? Plants are the gift that keep on giving; they stay alive for years and daily add joy to your spaces with a pop of green.

The Ecology Center Harvest Box:

Grab a harvest box filled with the freshest seasonal ingredients. Get creative, use Pinterest to search for recipes based on what ingredients you get. Cook up your meal, and enjoy.

Date Night

Learn something new together. Make your movie night special by dressing up, choosing a movie you wouldn’t normally watch (aka a documentary), and afterward discuss it over a nice bottle of wine.

Shop this at home date night below...

The Movie:

Maybe you’ll find a new passion and get invigorated to make a difference. We’d recommend Racing Extinction as our top documentary of choice, but here are 5 others we’d also recommend: The True Cost, Before the Flood, Chasing Coral, Kiss the Ground, and Blue Gold World Water Wars.

Arrow & Branch Wine:

This 2017 Right Bank blend might be your new favorite red wine. Grown in Napa, it’s organic, no pesticides, more please and thank you!

EB Denim:

We LOVE these reimagined upcycled denim made by girl boss Elena Bonvicini.

Ilia Beauty:

Ilia has become a cult favorite and our favorite Laguna Beach beauty shop Roots the Beauty Underground sells all their products. A little lipstick goes a long way in making you feel like you’ve dressed up.

Madouk Collection:

Set the scene. Spice up your space for Valentine’s Day with this morrocan rug by Madouk -- ethically sourced from Morocco.

The Jewels:

Obviously add some bling...the bee ring is a reminder to send love to all the species out there doing work to help us humans. We think the seven diamond band looks great paired with it too.

What are your Valentine’s Day plans, and how are you spreading the love?
